Welcome dear models, aspiring models and women interested in a healthy lifestyle! You have landed on the health blog “Great Body & Skin | A fashion model reveals her secrets …”. A few times a week I place a new article about nutrition, fitness, beauty & skin care and/or psychology.Let me first introduce myself: I am Angela Willemse, I’m 31 years old and I am an international fashion model. In regards of my modeling I have worked with several personal trainers.
I am also a self-employed health educator with a master’s degree. A health educator is someone who tries to influence health behavior by means of communication. Think of stimulating kids to exercise in an attempt to reduce weight gain among this group and stimulate adolescents to use protection to reduce the amount of STD’s and teenage pregnancy’s.
My boyfriend’s name is Maarten. He’s 33 years old and is a senior policy advisor for the Social Support Act (WMO in Dutch). We have been together for 12 years and live in the center of a midieval city in the Netherlands. In September 2015 we’re expecting our first child.
In my private life I enjoy good company with good food & red wine, working out (running, strength training, bootcamp, tabatha etc.), photography, writing, webdesign and video- and photo-editing.
My modeling career
During my modeling career I have lived and worked in several fashion capitals and I have worked for clients like Viktor & Rolf, Nivea, Escada, ELLE, G-STAR, GSUS, Avant Garde, Oriflame, Vogue, VICE and Glamour. As a model I get booked for magazine editorials and -covers, catalogues, commercial printwork, haute couture fashion shows, commercial fashion show, brand presentations and television commercials. Before I left the Netherlands to model abroad, I worked in gyms, where I gave fitness instruction and provided clients with nutritional information.
Motivation to support models
I have gained quite some experience and knowledge on how to – and specifically how nòt to – take care of my body to meet the requirements of the fashion industry. I have learned the hard way that finding balance in what is healthy and what is desired can be hard, both mentally and physically. You can read more about that in this article.
As such, I have become an expert by experience and education in the fields of sports, nutrition, (mental and physical) health behavior, (mental and physical) health behavior change and health education, specifically regarding models.
With this experience it is my goal to support other models in their health, by helping them balancing their health and their ‘product’; their body. Besides supporting models, I want to inform, inspire, support and motivate women in the fields of a healthy lifestyle.
Freely accessible support
I want to support models – but also women that are not models – mentally, inspire them, educate them about a healthy lifestyle (nutrition and exercise) and the dangers and negative effects of bad physical and mental caretaking.
I do so by sharing informational, motivational, supportive, entertaining (at least I hope they are ;)) blog articles on food, workouts, psychology and workouts. These articles are freely accessible on this website and don’t require paid logins.
