[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s a model we get paid because of our looks and we are the ones that define beauty. Nevertheless, I am sure there are things about your looks you worry about: too much thigh fat, a zit on the forehead, frizzy hair, dry skin …
I definitely don’t want to tell you that you don’t have the right to complain about your looks. All I want is you to watch inspiring woman Lizzie Valesquez’s TedX talk.
Lizzie (25) has a syndrome that prevents her from gaining weight. She has never weighted more than just 46 lbs.
Lizzie was once labeled as the “world’s ugliest woman” in a YouTube video that went viral. The video got thousands of views and comments that said she’s a monster and should put a gun to her head.
Lizzie:
Yes, I look different, but I won’t let that define me.
I started realizing: am I gonna let people that call me a monster define me? No. Not the fact that I look different, my goals and my success, not my outer appearance.
I am gonna use the negative things to turn them into something positive. I wanted to write a book, be a motivational speaker, graduate college and I did all.
Lizzie’s response to the video: she turned things around and created her own definitions of what she defines as beauty and happiness.
