If you think chickpeas are only suitable for savory dishes, you might be amazed by the recipes that I am about to share with you. Chickpeas as a matter of fact can be perfectly used for sweet dishes, such as cookies, bars and pancakes.

I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I promised myself that I will try a sweet chickpea recipe before 2014 comes to an end. As such, I searched for clean recipes all over the web and found 4 that tickled my tastebuds.

1. Vanilla Chickpea Protein Bars
Recipe no.1 is definitely my favorite recipe out of these 4. These main ingredients of these no-bake protein bars by Hummusapien are besides chickpeas medjool dates, almond butter, protein powder and some chia and hemp seeds. The original recipe asks for MTC protein powder, but I’ll replace this with my vegan vanilla protein powder. Sound like a perfect post-workout snack. Definitely landed on my to-(no)-bake list!

2. Chickpea Thumbprint Cookies

Sing hallelujah! These cute ‘bird nest’ cookies by The Colorful Kitchen are fully gluten-free and vegan. The center of the cookies consists of a 100% fruit spread and leaves the choice of fruit to the cookie baker. I’d go for a home-made strawberry spread. Another option is to substitute 100% fruit spread for my raspberry chia spread.


3. Vanilla Pumpkin Chickpea Pancakes
Pancakes and pumpkin (which is full of beautifying vitamin a!) in 1 recipe?! Yum! Those are my two of my favorites, and Strength & Sunshines combines them in 1 recipe. Want! The topping of these ultra-fluffy, gluten-free pancakes is made with Sunwarrior%20Warrior Blend Protein, Vanilla 2.2 lbsvanilla protein powder. Perfect for lazy Sunday morning brunches!

4. Crunchy Cinnamon Honey Roasted Chickpeas
I want to make these gluten-free crunchies by The Life Eclectic ahead for the weekend when my friends come over for a movie, to have it with a glass of wine (or beer for the guys). We’ll have something healthier to nibble on (or must I say: “we can have more of it”?). I might replace the honey by agave syrup, as agave syrup has less influence on the blood sugar level. Just in case I eat all of it.
