Spring is in the air! This means I can be found doing my workouts outdoor more often. Running is one of my favorite outdoor workouts, therefore the attention in this Spring newsletter is drawn towards running.

Why do I love running?
Running gives me the feeling of freedom (I can run wherever, whenever I want) and at the same time, I benefit from the sunlight (vitamin D). Other benefits I get from running are a reduced stress level and an amazing boost of my mood.

My first run
There are many more benefits to running, but the biggest benefits is that it gives me pleasure. Therefore, I signed up for my first run ever! I t’s a 10K run and I have 33 days to get from 6.5K to 10K. I’m excited: let’s do this!

Participate!
Would you like to participate in runs too? I have included a link to the Nike “We Own The Night” run, which will be held in Amsterdam, London, Milan, Berlin and Paris late May. Make sure you wear the right gear if you are in training: your joints are sensitive and should be protected with qualitative shoes.

Post-workout food
Running makes me hungry. Immedeately after a workout I make sure I refuel my body with protein (e.g. vegan protein powder) and simple carbs like fruit. Just because I work out, this doesn’t mean I use this as an excuse to have fast food as an exchange or reward. This also doesn’t mean I don’t have my indulgencies. On the contrary! My secret? I tweak recipes to make a healthier version to make them a palatable vitamin bomb. Miranda Kerr does the same.
