Banana’s boosts your mood due to their affect on serotonin levels, also known as the ‘happy hormone’. Moreover, they provide you with energy, a good amount of intestinal health promoting fiber and do NOT make you gain weight.
As such, they are the perfect main ingredient for a healthy snack (of which you won’t even realise it is actually healthy). Read on for the instructions on how to make these deliscious, easy peasy 3 ingredient tropical peanut butter-banana-coconut bonbons!
[dropcap]Yes[/dropcap], I am a banana lover. They make me happy, boost my mood and I love the convenience of taking them with me on the go. Actually, they are also quite a sexy fruit. I don’t mean this because of their shape, but rather because of their libido increasing abilities, due to the presence of potassium and B vitamins.
Bananas furthermore contain vitamin C and some vitamin A (both perfect skin optimizers!), phospohorus (digestion, hormonal balance, protein formation, cell repair), iron, calcium (soothes PMS symptoms) and phytosterols; the latter helping lower cholesterol levels. Not without reason that I consume a banana (or two) on a daily base (not to increase my libido, though).
Besides taking bananas with me on the go, especially to the gym, I like to use them to make my own tropical ‘bonbons’. The recipe is super simple, but the end result is devine.
I know: it’s not haute cuisine you’re whitnissing here, but who says indulgencies have to be haute cuisine? Besides, I only needed 3 ingredients and just 3 minutes to prepare this snack, so you might as well give it a go:
These were the only three ingredients that I’ve used: banana, peanut butter (optional: substitute with almond butter) and shredded coconut.
Step 1: slice a banana in half;
Step 2: coat it with peanut butter or your favorite nutbutter and roll the banana through the shredded coconut. You might need a knife to spread the nut butter out evenly.
If you would cut the banana into bonbons now, you would have nice and soft bonbons right away. Wait 30 more minutes to put the banana in the freezer and you will compliment the texture and taste; really worth it! Half an hour of cold will make the bonbons more firm and enhance the texture and taste.
Step 3 (optional): roll the banana halves in foil and put them in the freezer for 30 minutes before cutting them up into bonbons
Voilá! Here you have your libido and mood boosting, super healthy, pallatable, tropical banana-coconut-peanut butter bonbons!
Here’s the full and printable ingredient list and recipe:
- 1 medium banana
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut (organic, non-sweetened)
- 2 tablespoons peanutbutter
- Peel a banana.
- Cut it in half.
- Coat it with your favorite organic nutbutter (i.e. from Monki, Krekeltje or Horizon, my fav's!).
- Roll the banana halves in shredded coconut.
- Optional: wrap the halves up in plastic and leave in the fridge for half an hour.
- Cut the banana halves in thumb-tip thick slices.
